Mayer can't hold a candle to the original - Mark Knopfler. When I first heard this song - I thought - what is Mark Knopfler doing on a Billy Joel album. Sure enough, I confirmed later that that is who appeared on the original studio version. That is truly the mark of a great artist - when he/she can be identified by the sound of their instrument. Mayer isn't even close to this level of playing. If Mayer wants to get somewhere - he should do what Knopfler did - listen to Chet Atkins.
